Welcome to our blog! This blog will be a somewhat informal documentation of our electric motorcycle conversion project. You’ll be able to follow along and read about our progress, designs, and highs and lows. Thank-you for taking the time to read, and we’re looking forward to have you along for the journey. Don’t forget to like our Facebook page and subscribe on YouTube where we’ll be vloging about this project. If you have any suggestions or feedback, feel free to leave a comment or reach out to us via our contact page. Let’s begin! 🙂
After a week of searching our local classifieds website (Gumtree) we finally found a suitable frame to use. We reached out to the owner, organised a time, and set off to have a look at the bike. We didn’t have any way of transporting the motorcycle to our workshop (HSBNE Inc) so we had to rent a ute (or truck for you Americans). After a 1 1/4 hour drive up to the lovely Sunshine Coast we had a look at the bike, were very happy with it, and loaded it up onto the tray. We had an exciting drive back down to our workshop discussing all of the cool stuff we could do, and envisaging where the project could end up.
Just as we arrived, one of our typical Queensland summer storms hit. We ended up having to wait in the ute for 20 minutes while we watched an incredible downpour of rain. Once the storm blew over we started unloading the bike. Unfortunately the ramp was on slightly too steep of an angle and the bottom of the engine got stuck. After some pushing and wiggling we eventually got it loose and the bike slide freely down the ramp. We then found a suitable space to store it and packed up for the night.
Stay tuned for our next update where we begin to strip down the bike, and rid it of that pesky petrol powered engine. 😉
